چکیده

Three recent papers provide striking insight into the mechanisms used to regulate B-cell differentiation. They demonstrate that B-cell fate choice can be stochastic, directed, inherited, or some combination of these, depending on the circumstances. The trick is going to be working out which is important when.

Cardiogel as an Instructive Microenvironment for in vitro Differentiation of Bone Marrow- Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells into Cardiomyocytes

Background: Stem cell therapy has been developed as an effective treatment method for the heart failure. Also, extracellular matrix has shown the positive effects in stem cell differentiation and myocardial tissue organization. Cardiogel is a native cardiac extracellular matrix (ECM) derived from cardiac fibroblasts. In the present study the role of cardiogel is examin...

Notch Signaling in T Helper Cell Subsets: Instructor or Unbiased Amplifier?

For protection against pathogens, it is essential that naïve CD4+ T cells differentiate into specific effector T helper (Th) cell subsets following activation by antigen presented by dendritic cells (DCs). Next to T cell receptor and cytokine signals, membrane-bound Notch ligands have an important role in orchestrating Th cell differentiation. Several studies provided evidence that DC activatio...

Neuronal Differentiation of Rat Hair Follicle Stem Cells: the Involvement of the Neuroprotective Factor Seladin-1 (DHCR24)

Background: The seladin-1 (selective Alzheimer disease indicator-1), also known as DHCR24, is a gene found to be down-regulated in brain region affected by Alzheimer disease (AD). Whereas, hair follicle stem cells (HFSC), which are affected in with neurogenic potential, it might to hypothesize that this multipotent cell compartment is the predominant source of seladin-1. Our aim was to evaluate...

Integrating Extrinsic and Intrinsic Cues into a Minimal Model of Lineage Commitment for Hematopoietic Progenitors

Autoregulation of transcription factors and cross-antagonism between lineage-specific transcription factors are a recurrent theme in cell differentiation. An equally prevalent event that is frequently overlooked in lineage commitment models is the upregulation of lineage-specific receptors, often through lineage-specific transcription factors. Here, we use a minimal model that combines cell-ext...

A stochastic model for the cell formation problem considering machine reliability

This paper presents a new mathematical model to solve cell formation problem in cellular manufacturing systems, where inter-arrival time, processing time, and machine breakdown time are probabilistic. The objective function maximizes the number of operations of each part with more arrival rate within one cell. Because a queue behind each machine; queuing theory is used to formulate the model. T...
